Women's Only Classes

This is a series of courses designed to reach students who are brand new to firearms.  Each level builds upon the skills gained in the previous course, up to advanced proficiency.

Skill Level Guide

Beginners

You are a new gun owner, new to firearms, considering purchasing a handgun, or are afraid of handguns and want to learn more. We take the fear and uncertainty out of gun handling and ownership.

Classes You Should Take

Intermediate

You own a firearm but have not taken a formal pistol class or you want to improve your marksmanship, build confidence in your ability to use your firearm and challenge yourself to achieve a new or advanced skill.

Advanced

You have already taken a basic pistol class or a basic CCW class and have mastered the basics of marksmanship.   You want to acquire advanced marksmanship and real-life skills to confidently protect yourself and your loved ones.

FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation

This course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper use of a small caliber pistol.

This course is 3 hours long, and includes classroom and range time.

What You Will Learn

  • Rules for safe gun handling
  • Pistol parts and operation
  • Ammunition
  • Shooting fundamentals
  • Cleaning the pistol
  • Additional opportunities for skill development

 

Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

Be sure to bring a notebook and pen to take notes.  Other than that, we provide everything for you! Small caliber handgun, targets, ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection.  

For safety reasons, please do not bring any non-enrolled spectators.  Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and no low-cut tops.  No drugs or alcohol allowed.


Women's Basic Pistol

This is an introductory course, designed for the new handgun owner or for anyone interested in practicing the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship. This is an engaging, low-stress, hands-on class.  

This course is 3 hours long, and includes classroom and range time.

  • Handgun safety rules
  • Proper operation of firearms
  • Eye dominance
  • Shooting fundamentals
 

We provide everything for you!  All handguns, targets, ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection.  

If you have a personal handgun you want to use AFTER the course, you may bring it UNLOADED and in a case.  You must provide your own ammunition for your personal firearm (brass casings only, no steel cased, steel core, aluminum case or exposed lead ammo).

For safety reasons, please do not bring any non-enrolled spectators. Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and no low cut tops. Be sure to bring a notebook and pen to take notes. Pack a light lunch or snacks.  Water will be provided. No drugs or alcohol allowed.

Women's Intermediate Pistol

Learn techniques and methods to become a better defensive shooter, incorporating real-life skills.

This course is 3 hours long, and includes classroom and range time.

NOTE:  you must have completed Basic Pistol, or Improving on the Basics, or an equivalent course in order to enroll in this class.

What You Will Learn

  • Handgun safety rules
  • Proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
  • Ammunition knowledge and selection
  • Pistol selection and storage
  • Shooting fundamentals
  • Pistol inspection and maintenance
  • Holsters and concealed carry
  • Range safety
 
You will challenge yourself to achieve a new level of skills and walk away with the confidence you need to enjoy and train with your handgun.

Please bring your personal handgun UNLOADED and in a case.  You must provide your own ammunition (300 rounds, full metal jacket, brass casings ONLY), eye and ear protection.  No holsters.  We’ll cover range fees and any targets.

Women's Defensive Pistol

Take your skills to the next level.  Learn techniques and methods to become a better defensive shooter under real-life situations.  

This course is 5 hours long, and includes classroom and outdoor range time.

NOTE:  you must have completed the Women’s Intermediate Pistol, or an equivalent course in order to enroll in this class.

What You Will Learn

    • A review of tactical marksmanship principles
    • Drawing from the holster
    • Movement drills from the holster
    • Tactical and administrative reloads
    • Developing speed and accuracy
    • Handling malfunctions
    • Target discrimination and decision making
    • Threat assessment
    • Post threat assessment
    • Strategies to improve and practice
 

You will challenge yourself to achieve a new level of advanced skills and walk away with the confidence you need to protect yourself and loved ones.

Please bring your personal handgun UNLOADED and in a case.  You must provide your own ammunition (300 rounds), eye and ear protection (preferably active protection), an outside the waistband holster, 2 belt mounted magazine holders, and 3 magazines.  You will also be responsible to cover the outdoor range fees.

Hybrid Learning

 

We offer the Basic Pistol class as a hybrid alternative, in which coursework can be performed online at your convenience.  We then meet up at the range in person to complete the exercises and the live-fire portion of the course.  There is nothing better than in-person instruction, however, if this better suits your needs, this option is available to you.   

When you register for the hybrid course, you’ll create a unique username and password on the NRA website. Upon completion of the online hybrid course, you will be provided with a Course Control Code so you can register for the in-person portion of the course.

Private Instruction

 

If you need individual attention to build or improve your handgun skills, we are available to help.  Each private session is 2 hours and takes place at an indoor range.  

Please bring your personal handgun UNLOADED and in a case.  You must provide your own ammunition (300 rounds, full metal jacket, brass casings ONLY), and eye and ear protection.  Holsters are not necessary. We’ll cover range fees and any targets.
