Who should take the AHA BLS Course?
The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings.
If I don't have a healthcare background, can I still take the more advanced AHA BLS course?
Yes, most certainly! Although the AHA BLS course is designed for individuals with healthcare knowledge, it is not necessary to have this.
Who can earn Continuing Education Credits?
CE/CMEs are are only earned through the AHA BLS course and if your specific profession qualifies for them
What is the Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Course?
The Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Course prepares students to provide first aid, perform CPR and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
Is AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED the right course for me?
Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. If you are still unsure that this is the correct course, please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.
Is there a different BLS or Heartsaver® class for new students and renewals?
No, new students learn the same material as renewal students.
How often do I need to renew my CPR certification?
AHA BLS and Heartsaver® certifications are good for a 2 year period
What is the difference between American Red Cross and American Heart Association classes?
Although both organizations seem to have the same type of training:
- the AHA rigorously adheres to the latest CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines.
- AHA certifications are widely recognized and accepted across various industries, including healthcare, emergency services, and workplaces.
- As a leading organization in cardiovascular research and education, the AHA continuously updates its training programs based on the latest scientific evidence and best practices in resuscitation and emergency care.

What is the no-show, change or cancellation policy?
Reschedules are allowed up to 24 hours with advance notification. Cancellations and requests for refunds are only allowed up to 3 business days in advance of your scheduled class. No-shows forfeit the class fee.
