Who should take the AHA BLS Course?

The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings.

Yes, most certainly!  Although the AHA BLS course is designed for individuals with healthcare knowledge, it is not necessary to have this.

CE/CMEs are are only earned through the AHA BLS course and if your specific profession qualifies for them

The Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Course prepares students to provide first aid, perform CPR and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. If you are still unsure that this is the correct course, please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

No, new students learn the same material as renewal students. 

AHA BLS and Heartsaver® certifications are good for a 2 year period

Although both organizations seem to have the same type of training:
