Developed in the late 1990’s, the SIG Sauer SIG Pro became the first polymer frame pistol from SIG Sauer. As such, it also became one of the first pistols to feature an accessory rail and interchangeable backstraps. The 2022 model was chosen by the French police for a 20-year contract starting in 2002, with “2022” indicating the year the contract would end. Despite that year of expiration now being upon us, the SIG SP2022 is still used prominently in military and police forces around the world.
