Finding the Perfect Holster Mount For Your Needs

We have prioritized finding a reliable, universal, military grade mounting system for our holsters, ultimately settling on the Safariland mounting system. With a plethora of models for different missions and purposes, you are sure to find a mount that suits your needs!

The following descriptions are classified in the following criteria:

  • How these mounts are attached (e.g. size of belt, MOLLE, etc)

  • Recommended uses (e.g. EDC, tactical, competition, etc)

  • Disadvantages of each platform due to design

MOUNTS

Standard Belt (High-Ride): This mount sits at a standard hip/belt height and can fit a belt with a width of up to 2 1/4 inches (depending on version). It is most suitable for OWB EDC or other such like operations. However, because of its high position on a belt, it is not suitable for plate carriers, chest rigs, or other torso equipment, as it will interfere with said equipment and may cause potential difficulties.

Please note that the Safariland High-Ride Belt Holster Mount features slight design differences between different generations. Our stock varies depending on availability from Safariland Model 567BL Versions 1 – 7. Please note that each version can only work with specific belt sizes.

Please refer to the figure at right for more information. Note that if the image is too small, versions are listed in order from left to right, Versions 1-7. The belt size millimeter-to-inch conversions are listed below:

Ver 1: 1.5-2.25″ belt (Rides lower than hip)

Ver 2: 2.25″ belt (Rides lower than hip)

Ver 3: 2″ belt

Ver 4: 1.75″ belt

Ver 5: 1.5″ belt

Ver 6: 1.5-1.75″ belt

Ver 7: 2.25″ belt

☆ Mid-Ride Belt: This mount sits 2 inches below the belt and can fit a belt with a width of up to 2 1/4 inches. It is most suitable for applications that are similar to the regular belt mount, yet require the holster to sit lower. The Mid-Ride Belt can be used with some plate carriers, chest rigs, and other torso equipment. However, because of its still relatively high position on a belt, it may still interfere with said equipment and cause potential difficulties.

☆ Low-Ride Belt: This mount sits 2 inches below the belt and can fit a belt with a width of up to 2 1/4 inches. Being lower than a standard belt mount but still higher than a thigh holster, it is the ideal choice for active tactical operations, and can easily be used in tandem with many plate carriers, chest rigs, and other torso equipment. However, because of its low position on a belt, it may prove harder to access in demanding positions, and may prove to be a hindrance in situations that require kneeling, rolling, and other active maneuvers, leading to potential difficulties.

Low-Ride Belt Mount

☆ Low-Ride Belt with Leg Strap: This mount is a variation of the Low-Ride Belt, but with the addition of a leg strap. Because of its superior mobility capabilities and additional stability, it can easily be used under the same conditions as its standard counterpart in addition to many more demanding tactically oriented applications. However, as with the standard Low-Ride Belt, the Low-Ride Belt with Leg Strap’s rigid design prevents the user from active maneuvers, such as kneeling and rolling efficiently. The TSI Mobile Low-Ride/Leg Rig system was created to combat this issue (see below for more details).

☆ MOLLE Fork: This mount interfaces with any standard MOLLE webbing and takes up two rows and two columns of webbing. For quick change capabilities, it also interfaces with the Safariland MLS. The MOLLE Fork also comes in short and long versions. The short version is used for applications which are more restricting on MOLLE space, while the long version is used for applications that allow more MOLLE to be used. Because this system is designed for use with any standard MOLLE platform, it does not create any downsides toward mobility or accessibility outside of the user’s positioning choices.

ADDITIONAL MOUNTING SYSTEMS

☆ TSI Drop Leg Thigh Rig / High Mobility Low Ride: This mounting system consists of a mounting plate made to interface with all Safariland T-style mounts. The mounting system is attached to the user’s belt and thigh using a fully adjustable, detachable strap and thigh strap, and can be adjusted to sit a maximum of 9 inches below the user’s belt. Because of its flexible, out-of-the-way design, it is most suitable for every mission and situation that demands maneuverability and agility.

☆ Safariland QLS (Quick Locking System): The QLS is Safariland’s newest modular quick-change holster mounting system. This innovative design allows users to switch out different holsters as needed while still utilizing the same mount, and is extremely practical in tactical, on-the-go environments. The modular design of the QLS is most adaptable for individuals who need the ability to quickly change holsters for different loadouts, or simply want to get their weapon off their belt in a hurry. For more information, please refer to Safariland’s QLS instructional video found here. Every single one of our holster products allows the use of the QLS Kit*.

Because of its ability to integrate with any standard Safariland T-style mounts, the QLS can be used in any of the following combinations:

– QLS Kit + Standard Belt
– QLS Kit + Mid-Ride Belt
– QLS Kit + Low-Ride Belt
– QLS Kit + Low-Ride Belt with Leg Strap
– QLS Kit + MOLLE Fork
– QLS Kit + TSI Mobile Low-Ride/Leg Rig

☆ Safariland ELS (Equipment Locking System): The Safariland ELS system is designed for use with smaller equipment retainers such as magazine pouches and shotgun shell holders. A staple among professional competition shooters, the ELS allows the user to quickly swap magazine pouches and other equipment without completely disassembling a belt loadout, and is able to integrate with any other product that uses the Safariland mini T-mount (different from the holster T-mount). Our SpeedMag Pistol Mag pouches utilize this innovative system, and can be found here.

☆ MOLLE Lok Equipment System: This mount interfaces with any standard MOLLE webbing and takes up two rows and one column of webbing. It utilizes the Safariland mini T-mount and can be integrated with any product that utilizes this system. Because this system is designed for use with any standard MOLLE webbing, it does not create any downsides toward mobility or accessibility outside of the user’s positioning choices.
